What is an independent medical evaluation (IME)?

An IME is an assessment conducted by an impartial and objective medical expert to determine an individual’s health status. These assessments are often requested by third parties, such as companies, public organizations, insurers, consultants, unions, lawyers, or during legal disputes. A qualified medical expert, who is a member in good standing of the Collège des médecins du Québec and recognized for his expertise, will produce an independent and neutral expert report.
